Play Guilty Gear X - Advance Edition (U)(Suxxors) Online
They squeezed Guilty Gear’s flashy fights onto the GBA—Sol’s coat still whips around when he moves, and somehow I-No’s guitar animations didn’t turn into a pixelated mess. It’s all here: Roman Cancels, stupidly long combo strings, and your friend groaning when you spam Potemkin buster on the bus ride home.

Guilty Gear X - Advance Edition came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Arc System Works and published by Sammy Studios. It was a time when seeing a fighting game with this much detail on a handheld felt like a minor miracle, even if some corners had to be cut. The game brought a piece of the console experience into your hands, fitting right in with other ambitious GBA ports that tried to deliver big action on a small screen.
You control one of several fighters, like the fiery Sol Badguy or the heavy-hitting Potemkin, and your goal is to defeat your opponent in one-on-one battles. The game retains signature mechanics from the series, including the Roman Cancel, which lets you halt your own move to create new combo opportunities, and a tension gauge that builds as you move forward or attack, allowing for powerful special moves. Matches are fast and demand quick reflexes, with a difficulty that can feel punishing if you don't learn the timing for blocks and counters. It feels sharp and responsive, capturing the intensity of the arcade original in a surprisingly complete portable package.
