Gyakuten Saiban, known as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney in the West, came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2001 from Capcom. It was part of that early 2000s wave of text-heavy adventures that really made use of the portability of handheld systems, letting you chip away at cases during short breaks or long commutes.
You control defense attorney Phoenix Wright, investigating crime scenes and defending clients in court. Your main goal is to find contradictions in witness testimonies by presenting evidence at the right moment. The game is split between investigation phases, where you examine locations and gather clues, and trial phases, where you cross-examine witnesses and shout objections to expose lies. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes demanding careful attention to small details, but the satisfaction of turning a case around with a well-timed piece of evidence makes all the scrutiny worthwhile.
