Play Haou Taikei Ryuu Knight - Lord of Paladin (Japan) (Rev A) Online

You command a squad of knights in clunky mech suits, shuffling them across grid maps to outmaneuver dragons—then tweaking their armor between battles to prep for the next fight. The attacks feel weighty, especially when your paladin launches into the air for a ridiculous anime-style finishing move.

Game Overview

Haou Taikei Ryuu Knight: Lord of Paladin is one of those weird, wonderful SNES games that somehow makes knights in robot armor fighting dragons feel completely natural. You start off with a small squad—each character has their own upgradeable mech suit (called "Ryuu Knights") that looks like it walked out of a '90s anime—and then it's straight into grid-based battles where positioning matters just as much as raw power.

The sprites are chunky and full of personality, especially during the dramatic special attacks where your paladins leap into the air for flashy finishing moves. It’s got that classic tactical RPG feel, but with a twist: you’re constantly tweaking your gear between fights, swapping out parts to boost speed, defense, or unlock new abilities. The first time your knight charges up a beam sword and cleaves through an enemy in one hit? Pure serotonin.

Originally part of a Japanese multimedia series, the game never made it overseas, which is a shame—it’s got that perfect mix of strategy and spectacle. If you’ve ever wanted a Fire Emblem where everyone pilots transforming mechs, this is your jam.
