Heimdall 2 picks up right after the first game, with Loki still causing chaos—this time by sending his warriors to wreck Midgard and Utgard. Odin’s solution? Hunt down the pieces of a shattered amulet powerful enough to lock Loki away for good. You play as Heimdall (Odin’s son and resident god-bouncer) and Ursha, a Valkyrie who’s along for backup.

The game throws you into these gorgeous, moody isometric worlds straight out of Norse myth. At first, I kept switching between Heimdall and Ursha just to see who handled better—turns out Heimdall’s sword feels weightier, but Ursha’s quicker with ranged attacks. Some sections force you to use both, like when you need one to distract enemies while the other solves a puzzle. Speaking of puzzles, most involve lugging items around or figuring out which NPC actually wants that random trinket you found.

Combat’s simple but satisfying—swing your sword, shoot arrows, or blast magic when you’ve got it. The real challenge is navigating the maze-like levels without getting turned around. If you liked the first game or just dig old-school isometric adventures with a Norse twist, this one’s a solid follow-up. Just watch out for Hakrats—they’re everywhere.
