Hero's Quest (later renamed Quest for Glory) was one of those Amiga games that felt like a whole world in a box. You start by picking your class—fighter, thief, or mage—and right away, the game treats you differently based on your choice. Fighters get to flex their muscles in the opening scene, thieves sneak around, and mages... well, let’s just say magic isn’t easy at first.
The pixel art still holds up, especially the little animations like your character stumbling if you fail a jump. And the writing? Funny, smart, and full of little jokes that don’t overstay their welcome. The combat’s clunky by today’s standards, but back then, it felt like you were really figuring things out as you went.
Disk 5 is where things get wild—no spoilers, but let’s just say the ending’s worth the grind. Still one of the best RPG hybrids ever made.
