Play High Speed Online
NES version of the classic pinball game—same table, but now with zany hazards like rust-eating balls and magnetic helicopters. Split-screen keeps the flippers in view.

High Speed came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, developed by Rare and published by Tradewest. It was a time when arcade translations were common, and this one brought a specific, real-world pinball table into your living room without the need for quarters.
You control the flippers at the bottom of the screen, trying to keep the ball in play as long as possible to rack up a high score. The main objective is to complete the table's specific missions, like hitting the rollover lanes to light the "High Speed" letters and eventually start multiball. Signature mechanics include the split-screen view that keeps both sets of flippers always visible, and the various table gadgets like the captive ball and the habitrail ramps that change the ball's path. It's a fast game that demands quick reflexes, and the physics, while simplified, capture the satisfying clatter and flow of a real machine. It feels like a genuine, if slightly compressed, pinball session you can pause.
