Game Overview
Holy Magic Century (F) is one of those N64 gems that flew under the radar but deserves way more love. You play as a young mage-in-training, and the magic system is the real star here—instead of just picking spells from a menu, you mix and match elemental runes to create your own combos. Took me a while to figure out that fire + wind makes a fire tornado (obvious in hindsight, but hey, I was 12).
The world’s got that classic late-90s 3D charm—blocky but full of personality, with floating islands and temples that feel like they’re hiding secrets. Combat’s a mix of dodging, quick spell slinging, and occasionally panicking when you fumble your rune combo mid-battle. It’s got that perfect balance of jank and creativity that makes old-school action-RPGs so endearing.
If you missed this back in the day and dig experimental magic systems, it’s worth dusting off an emulator for.
