You play as a young wizard in Immortal, diving into this weird, brutal dungeon to save your mentor—except nothing goes smoothly. Right away, you’re dodging spikes, deciphering cryptic runes, and getting ambushed by creatures that look like they crawled out of a cursed bestiary. The isometric view makes every hallway feel claustrophobic, and half the time, I died because I misjudged a jump or stepped on the wrong tile.
It’s not just combat—you’ll burn through spells, solve puzzles that make you scribble notes, and occasionally panic when a shadow moves in the wrong way. The NES version is unforgiving, but there’s something satisfying about finally outsmarting a trap that killed you six times before. Just don’t expect hand-holding.
