Impossible Mission 2 came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, published by Epyx. It was a sequel to the earlier Commodore 64 title, and on the NES it fit right in with the platform's growing library of methodical, thinking-person's action games. You don't see many like it these days.
You control an agent infiltrating a series of towers run by a villain named Elvin Atombender. Your goal is to stop his doomsday device by finding and assembling its components, which are hidden across many floors. The gameplay is built on careful screen-by-screen exploration, avoiding or stunning patrol robots, and solving tile-based number puzzles to open doors and access new areas. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you memorize guard patterns and manage a limited energy supply. It feels like a race against a very clever clock.
