J. J. Squawkers is one of those weird, chaotic arcade platformers that somehow makes shooting frogs with spikes feel totally normal. You play as this loud green bird (or a purple one if you've got a buddy for co-op), running right and blasting everything in sight—eggs, weasels, even some guy in a creepy Mickey Mouse suit. No idea why he's there, but you'll shoot him anyway.
The weapons are ridiculous and endless—no reloading, just pure, dumb firepower. You'll swap between them without thinking too hard, though I always ended up favoring the spread shot for dealing with those flying squirrels. Four stages might not sound like much, but the bosses are the real highlight—each one feels like the game's designers just kept adding more nonsense until they ran out of space on the screen.
It's not deep, but it's the kind of game where you'll laugh at how absurd it gets by stage three.
