Play Jissen Kyoutei (Japan) Online

Sumo meets Street Fighter with ridiculous physics—bounce off ropes, suplex opponents out of the ring, and pull off moves that'd get you banned from an actual match. Two-player chaos is the real draw, especially when someone loses to a flying belly flop.

Game Overview

Jissen Kyoutei is a Super Nintendo Entertainment System game released only in Japan, developed by TOSE and published by Irem. It came out during the SNES era when developers were experimenting with different takes on established genres, particularly fighting and sports hybrids.

You control a sumo wrestler and face off against opponents in a small, rope-bounded ring. The main goal is to either push your rival out of the ring or force them to the ground. Key mechanics include using the ring's elastic ropes to build momentum for powerful charges, executing exaggerated throws and slams that defy real sumo conventions, and managing your stamina to avoid becoming vulnerable. The pacing is fast and unpredictable, with matches often ending abruptly thanks to the exaggerated physics. It feels like a chaotic, over-the-top parody of both sumo and versus fighters, especially when playing with a friend.
