Game Overview
Killer Instinct Gold is basically the N64's souped-up version of Killer Instinct 2. It keeps all the brutal combos and flashy moves from the arcade original, but throws in some extras—like auto doubles that let you sneak in free hits mid-combo. The roster's bigger too, with Maya, Kim Wu, and Tusk joining the fight.
What I like is how chaotic it feels—you’re either juggling someone in the air or getting wrecked by a 20-hit combo yourself. The training mode helps, but good luck remembering half the button inputs. And if you’ve got friends over, Team Elimination mode turns into pure mayhem. Just don’t blame me when someone throws a controller.
It’s still one of the best fighters on the N64, even if the graphics haven’t aged perfectly. The speed settings alone make it worth revisiting.
