Knight Rider for the NES came out in 1990, developed by Pack-In-Video. It was one of those licensed games from the era that tried to bring a popular TV show to the console, and it definitely had the look and feel of its time, with chunky sprites and that familiar NES color palette.
You control Michael Knight and KITT, switching between them to complete missions. On foot, you explore areas screen by screen, talking to characters and gathering clues. In the car, you drive through side-scrolling stages, shooting enemy vehicles and avoiding obstacles. The main goal is to progress through each mission by solving simple puzzles and defeating bosses. The pacing is uneven, with some sections feeling repetitive, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly due to awkward controls. Playing it feels like navigating a clunky but earnest tribute to the show, where patience is rewarded with moments of genuine fun.
