Game Overview

Koushien 2 is one of those deep-cut SNES baseball sims that never made it outside Japan, but if you're into old-school sports games, it's a solid pick. The pitching mechanics feel a little stiff at first—fastballs don’t zip like you’d expect—but once you get used to the timing, there’s a surprising amount of strategy in how you place your throws.

Batting’s the real highlight though. The AI pitchers mix up their stuff way more than most 16-bit baseball games, so you can’t just sit on fastballs every at-bat. I lost my first few games swinging at sliders in the dirt before I figured it out. The fielding’s basic, but the roster customization is weirdly detailed for a 1992 game—you can tweak everything down to individual player stats.

It’s definitely a product of its time, but if you’ve played the first Koushien or just dig obscure SNES sports titles, this one’s worth a few innings.
