Game Overview

Last Battle is one of those classic Sega Genesis beat-em-ups where you play as Aarzak (or Kenshiro if you're playing the Japanese version) punching and kicking your way through waves of goons to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend. The controls are simple—just walk, jump, and mash attack—but the real trick is timing your special power meter right. Once it fills up, you unleash a flurry of rapid attacks that can clear a whole screen of enemies, which feels pretty satisfying.

Most levels are straightforward side-scrollers, though a few throw in maze-like sections where you have to hunt for the exit. You’ll pick up power-ups from allies along the way, and the bosses at the end of each stage are no joke—some of them hit way harder than the generic thugs you’ve been plowing through. The Western version toned down the gore and changed the names (it was originally a Fist of the North Star game), but the core gameplay is still intact. Just don’t expect deep combat—this is pure old-school button-mashing fun.
