Last Battle came out for the Sega Genesis in 1989, developed and published by Sega. It was part of that early wave of side-scrolling action games on the system, a time when developers were still figuring out how to translate arcade-style brawling to home consoles. The game draws loosely from the Fist of the North Star manga, though it takes plenty of liberties with the source material.

You control a lone martial artist fighting through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Your main goal is to defeat the warlords ruling each territory by progressing screen by screen. The combat relies on building a power meter by landing punches and kicks; once full, you can unleash a super attack that wipes out every regular enemy on screen. The levels are straightforward runs to the right, though some stages introduce maze-like layouts where you must find a specific exit. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty spikes sharply at the boss encounters. It feels like a raw, slightly clumsy test of endurance where every victory is earned through repetition.
