I remember picking up The Little Mermaid for the NES back in 1991. You control Ariel, swimming through various underwater stages, and your main goal is to rescue Prince Eric's sunken treasures from Ursula's minions. The gameplay revolves around shooting bubbles to trap enemies, which you can then fling at other foes or obstacles. You also collect shells to upgrade your attack power and speed, letting you clear screens more efficiently. The pacing is brisk, and while it's not overly difficult, some sections require quick reflexes. It feels smooth and responsive, like you're genuinely pushing through water with purpose.
