Download Loom_Disk1 ROM – Amiga Game
1990 adventure game for Amiga. Play as Bobbin Threadbare, solving puzzles by weaving four-note magical spells with a distaff. Features three difficulty modes based on musical memory. No traditional inventory system.
Loom is one of those weird, beautiful Amiga games that sticks with you. You play as Bobbin, a kid from the Guild of Weavers who gets blamed for everything going wrong—until his entire village turns into swans (yeah, that escalated fast). Turns out he’s got magic in his blood, and the only way to fix things is by weaving spells with musical notes.
Instead of collecting junk in your inventory like most adventure games, you solve puzzles by playing four-note melodies on this weird spinning distaff thing. Open doors by plinking out the right tune, turn straw into gold by reversing the notes—it’s oddly satisfying once you get the hang of it. The harder difficulty modes even make you play by ear, which is either genius or cruel depending on how good your memory is.
The CD version has this gorgeous 256-color upgrade and voice acting, though it cuts a few scenes. The whole thing feels like a dark fairy tale—mysterious, a little sad, and full of swan-related drama. You’ll either love the musical puzzle gimmick or bounce off hard, but there’s nothing else quite like it.
