Download Loom_Disk3 ROM – Amiga Game
1990 adventure game for Amiga. Play as Bobbin Threadbare, solving puzzles by casting musical spells with a distaff. Features three difficulty modes based on note memorization.
Loom is one of those weird, beautiful Amiga games that sticks with you. You play as Bobbin Threadbare, a kid from the Guild of Weavers who gets blamed for everything going wrong in his village—until one day, everyone turns into swans (yep) and he has to figure out why. The whole thing feels like a dark fairy tale, but with less "happily ever after" and more "wait, did I just turn that guy into a cat?"
Instead of collecting junk in your inventory like most adventure games, you solve puzzles by weaving spells called "drafts" on this little musical distaff. Each spell is just four notes—like a tiny melody—but figuring out which ones to play where is half the fun. Some drafts are obvious (open, close), others... not so much (turning straw into gold, because why not). The cool part? Play them backwards, and they do the opposite. Messing around with drafts feels way more satisfying than just clicking "use key on door" for the hundredth time.
There are three difficulty levels, and the hardest one makes you play everything by ear—no hints, no visual cues. The CD version has gorgeous 256-color graphics and voice acting, though it cuts a few scenes. If you can track down the FM Towns version, you get the best of both worlds: enhanced visuals without missing content. Either way, it’s a short but haunting little adventure that’s unlike anything else from that era.
