Play Majin Tensei (Japan) (Rev A) Online
Control a party of humans and demons, move them on grid maps, engage in turn-based combat, negotiate with demons, and tackle a story-driven campaign in this strategy RPG.
Majin Tensei came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by Atlus. It was part of that mid-90s wave of strategy RPGs on the system, a time when developers were experimenting with deeper, more tactical gameplay. The game didn't get an official release outside Japan, so it remained a niche title known mostly to import players and fans of the genre.
You control a party of human characters and their demon allies, moving them across grid-based maps to defeat enemy forces. The main objective is to progress through a story-driven campaign, engaging in turn-based combat where positioning and elemental weaknesses are crucial. Two signature mechanics involve negotiating with demons to recruit them instead of fighting, and a lunar phase system that affects demon abilities and fusion outcomes. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush into battles unprepared. It feels like a thoughtful, sometimes unforgiving puzzle where every decision carries weight.
