Majin Tensei came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Atlus. It was part of that wave of deeper, more complex strategy RPGs that started to appear on the system, sitting alongside games like Fire Emblem but with a much darker, modern occult setting instead of high fantasy.
You control a team of human characters and the demons you recruit, moving them across grid-based maps in turn-based tactical combat. Key mechanics include negotiating with demons during fights to persuade them to join your side, and a magic system where spells are learned from equipped items rather than through leveling up.
