Manhunter 2: San Francisco throws you right back into that eerie, dystopian world where aliens run everything and you’re just trying to survive—this time in a twisted version of San Francisco. After barely escaping New York, your ship crashes, and suddenly you’re impersonating a Manhunter (the alien’s enforcers) while secretly working with the human resistance. Oh, and there’s still that serial killer, Phil, leaving bodies all over the place.
It’s wild seeing familiar Bay Area landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz turned into these oppressive alien zones. You’ll poke around crime scenes, use that weird MAD tracker to follow leads, and piece together clues to figure out who’s next on the Orbs’ hit list. The puzzles can get pretty clever, and yeah, there are still those arcade-style sections—annoying if you’re bad at them (like me), but at least there’s an easier mode now.
If you liked the first game, this one’s more of that same tense, point-and-click detective work, just with a fresh batch of mysteries and a darker, rain-soaked San Francisco to explore. The atmosphere alone makes it worth playing.
