Manhunter 2: San Francisco came out in 1989 from Sierra On-Line, a developer known for its adventure games on MS-DOS. It was a time when games relied heavily on text parsers and pixel hunting, and this one fit right into that challenging, sometimes unforgiving, era of PC gaming.
You control an agent tasked with stopping the villain Phil Cook, navigating the city screen by screen, collecting key items, and solving environmental puzzles. The game uses a first-person perspective for exploration but switches to an isometric view for action sequences, like avoiding security drones or disarming bombs. The pacing is deliberate, often slow, and the difficulty is high, demanding careful observation and patience. Playing it feels like piecing together a tense, paranoid thriller where every wrong move can lead to a sudden, grim ending.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
