McDonaldland on NES is one of those weird licensed platformers that feels like it was made in a hurry. You play as Ronald McDonald's crew—Grimace, the Hamburglar, Birdie—jumping through bright, blocky levels to get back stolen magic bags. The controls are stiff, like your characters are wading through syrup, and the enemies are just reskinned versions of typical NES baddies.
I remember getting stuck on a level where you have to bounce on floating fries to cross a pit, but the timing was just slightly off. The music loops endlessly, and after a while, the happy-go-lucky tune starts to feel like it's mocking you. Still, there's something oddly charming about seeing Grimace in pixel form, clumsily hopping around.
It's not a great game, but if you're into obscure NES oddities, McDonaldland at least has some weird nostalgia value.
