Game Overview
Mech Platoon is one of those GBA games that slipped under the radar but absolutely shouldn’t have. You start off with a handful of clunky, customizable mechs and immediately get thrown into these tight, grid-based battles where positioning matters just as much as firepower. Mess up your formation, and suddenly your sniper mech is getting shredded by enemy artillery—learned that the hard way.
It’s got that perfect mix of quick turns and deep strategy, like if Advance Wars had a baby with an old-school mech sim. The customization’s surprisingly flexible too—you can tweak loadouts between missions, and there’s something weirdly satisfying about watching your lumbering metal beasts absolutely demolish a forest (or each other).
No idea why this one never got big, but if you dig tactical games with a sci-fi punch, it’s a solid little time capsule from the GBA era.
