Metal Morph came out on the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Origin Systems. It was one of those mid-90s SNES titles that tried to push the hardware with its visual style, using a lot of Mode 7 effects to create its environments. The game doesn't get talked about much now, but it had a distinct look that set it apart from other action games of the era.

You control a humanoid robot made of a special liquid metal. Your main goal is to stop a renegade AI by navigating through its fortress, which is structured as a series of interconnected rooms. The core mechanic is your ability to morph into a puddle on the floor; this lets you avoid enemy fire, slip under security gates, and travel through narrow ventilation ducts. You also pilot a small ship in between the main levels, using it to chase down cargo pods in open space. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise timing needed to avoid traps and enemies. Playing it feels like solving a series of spatial puzzles under constant pressure.
