Game Overview

Mickey Mania is this weirdly charming little platformer where you jump through Mickey Mouse's entire cartoon career. One minute you're dodging barrels in black-and-white Steamboat Willie style, the next you're tossing marbles at ghosts in a Haunted House level. The animation's surprisingly smooth for a Genesis game—you can tell they really studied those old Disney frames.

It's not just nostalgia bait though. Some levels actually change art styles mid-stage when Mickey "remembers" newer cartoons, which blew my mind as a kid. The marble throwing feels a bit stiff at first, but you get used to it after dying to Pete for the fifth time. And yeah, you will die—some of those later platforming sections get brutal.

Fun detail: If you stand still too long, Mickey starts tapping his foot like he's waiting for the next cel animation. That’s the kind of love that went into this.
