Play Mitsume GaTooru Online
You play as a kid with a third eye, flinging it as a weapon while dodging bizarre monsters—NES platforming at its most weirdly satisfying. That floating eyeball boss still haunts me.

Mitsume Ga Tooru came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Natsume. It was part of that wave of late NES games that felt a bit more experimental, a little stranger than the usual platformers and action titles that dominated the earlier part of the decade. You don't see many games where the main character's primary weapon is his own detachable eye.
You control a young boy named Takuro, who ventures into a monster-infested mansion to rescue his kidnapped friend. The core of the game is methodical, screen-by-screen exploration; you clear each room of enemies before moving on. Your main attack is throwing your third eye, which boomerangs back to you, and you can also find secondary weapons like a boomerang or fireballs. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty is significant, with enemy patterns and environmental hazards that demand careful timing. It feels tense and strange, a mix of precision combat and surreal exploration that sticks with you.
