Monsters vs Aliens for the Nintendo DS came out in 2009, published by Activision. It was one of those many licensed games that filled the handheld's library, a side-scrolling action title based on the animated movie. The DS was well into its life by then, and this was a solid, if unspectacular, entry in its vast catalog of platformers and brawlers.
You take control of the movie's main monsters, switching between them to use their unique abilities. Ginormica handles most of the combat with her powerful punches, while B.O.B. can stretch his gelatinous body to cross gaps or press distant switches. The goal is to fight through waves of alien robots and soldiers, screen by screen, to save the world. The pacing is straightforward, and the difficulty is manageable, making it an accessible play. It feels like a simple, chaotic brawl where smashing things with oversized fists is reliably fun.
