Game Overview

Mortal Kombat Deception on GameCube is brutal, flashy, and packed with way more than just fights. Yeah, you’ve got your standard arcade battles and versus mode, but the real surprise is how much weird extra stuff they threw in—like Puzzle Kombat (think Tetris with fatalities) and Chess Kombat (where your pieces actually duke it out).

The roster’s a mix of classics—Sub-Zero and Scorpion are back, obviously—plus some wild new faces. Hotaru fights like a disciplined soldier, while Havik just flails his broken limbs at you. GameCube players miss out on online play, but hey, you get Goro and Shao Kahn as exclusives, which almost makes up for it.

Konquest mode is this weird open-world adventure where you run around as Shujinko unlocking moves and lore. It’s janky but weirdly charming. And the Krypt? Still full of creepy unlockables, because Mortal Kombat wouldn’t be Mortal Kombat without digging up severed heads for rewards.

If you’re into over-the-top violence and don’t mind some clunky minigames, this one’s a solid time.
