Mystic Ark came out in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, developed by Produce. You control a hero who wakes up in a strange world and must gather a party of unique characters, each with their own reasons for being there. Your main goal is to collect the seven arks scattered across different worlds to find a way back home. Exploration is screen by screen, with turn based combat against monsters you encounter on the map. One of the more interesting mechanics involves using special items to solve puzzles and progress, like freezing water to create paths or using a flute to affect the environment. The pacing is deliberate, and while it's not overly difficult, it requires attention to detail. Playing it feels like slowly uncovering a forgotten story, piece by piece.
