Game Overview

Napoleon on the GBA is one of those weird little strategy gems that slipped under most people's radars. You're basically commanding tiny pixel armies across Europe, trying not to get your hat knocked off by the British or Russians. The controls take some getting used to—it's real-time strategy crammed onto a tiny screen—but once you figure out how to move units without fat-fingering everything, there's something oddly satisfying about watching your miniature cavalry charges play out.

Funny thing is, this only officially released in France and Japan, so unless you imported it back in the day or found a ROM, you probably missed it. The Japanese version actually has slightly better unit sprites, which makes the whole warring-across-Europe thing feel a bit more dramatic. Just don't expect Total War levels of depth—this is more like pocket-sized military chess with musket fire.
