Nastar is one of those arcade gems that somehow flew under the radar back in the day. You play as this hulking barbarian-type dude who just plows through waves of enemies—some throw spears, others leap at you from off-screen, and the hit detection is surprisingly tight for an old-school side-scroller.
The pixel art has this weirdly charming, slightly rough quality to it—like they couldn’t decide if the hero was Conan or He-Man, so they split the difference. And those boss fights? The first time you see the giant snake uncoil from the background, you’ll either panic or grin like an idiot. Maybe both.
