NBA All-Star Challenge is that weird little Genesis basketball game where you pick an NBA star (all the big names from the early 90s—Jordan, Barkley, Magic) and go head-to-head in half-court showdowns. No full games here, just quick one-on-one matches where you either dunk on someone or get embarrassingly blocked.
The controls are simple—shoot, pass, steal—but the AI can be brutal if you pick a slower player. Learned that the hard way trying to post up with Ewing against Stockton. The pixel art’s decent for its time, though some players look more like their real selves than others. Jordan’s fadeaway animation is still kinda satisfying to pull off.
It’s not deep, but it’s fun for a few rounds if you’re into old-school arcade-style sports games. Just don’t expect NBA Jam levels of chaos.
