Game Overview

Ogre on the Amiga is basically Steve Jackson’s board game brought to life—hex grids, turn-based strategy, and one seriously unfair fight. You either command a ragtag army of tanks and infantry or pilot the Ogre, this unstoppable supertank that chews through defenses like they’re made of paper. The first time I played, I thought my little squad of howitzers stood a chance. They did not.

It’s all about positioning and sacrifice—do you throw infantry in the Ogre’s path to slow it down, or try to flank with your last surviving tank? The AI isn’t bad, but the real fun is playing against someone else, watching them panic as their carefully placed units get steamrolled. The graphics are simple (it’s the Amiga, after all), but the tension? Absolutely real.

If you like chess but wish it had more explosions, this is your game.
