I picked up One + Two on Arcade back in 2020, a release from Arcade Innovators that felt like a deliberate throwback to the platform's earlier days. It doesn't try to reinvent anything, but it does what it does with a kind of focused clarity that a lot of newer games seem to overlook.

You control a small, agile character tasked with navigating a series of single-screen obstacle courses. The main goal is simply to reach the exit in each room, but getting there means dodging moving hazards, timing jumps over spikes, and occasionally outmaneuvering patrolling enemies. The controls are tight and responsive, which you need because the timing windows are strict; one mistimed jump sends you back to the start of the room. It's a game of trial and error, where each failure teaches you the rhythm of a particular challenge. Finishing a tough screen gives you a real shot of satisfaction, the kind that comes from pure, earned execution.
