Operation Thunderbolt_Disk2 came out on the Amiga in 1988, a release from Ocean Software Ltd. based on Taito's arcade game. It was part of that wave of late 80s action titles that tried to bring a bit of arcade intensity home, with the kind of detailed sprites and chunky sound the Amiga did well.
You control a lone commando dropped into hostile territory, moving screen by screen to clear areas of enemy soldiers, vehicles, and installations. Your main goal is to rescue hostages while surviving eight missions packed with enemies that come from all directions. You switch between moving on foot and driving captured vehicles like jeeps or tanks, which changes how you engage threats and use cover. Airdrops supply extra weapons and ammo, but you have to reach them safely. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is steep, with enemy fire coming from multiple angles at once. It feels like a tense, methodical push through dangerous territory where every screen cleared is a small victory.
