Over Top is one of those arcade racers that just feels right—SNK nailed it back in '96. You start by picking from a handful of cars (some grip better, others drift like they’re on ice), and then you’re off, tearing through city streets, mountain passes, and snow-covered roads that actually change depending on the weather. The tracks split unexpectedly sometimes, so you’ll take different routes on replays without even trying.
What I love is how weighty the drifting feels—you really have to wrestle some of these cars around tight corners. And yeah, it’s got that classic NEOGEO arcade vibe, right down to the option to tweak the screen settings so it looks like you’re playing on an old CRT. There’s even online leaderboards if you want to see how your best times stack up globally. It’s straightforward, satisfying, and exactly what you’d hope for from a '90s arcade port.
