Over Top came out in arcades in 1996, developed by ADK. It was part of that wave of late 90s arcade racers that tried to push hardware with bold, colorful visuals and over the top concepts. It didn't have the name recognition of some other titles, but it had a distinct personality that made it stand out on the floor.

You choose from a roster of exaggerated vehicles, from sports cars to monster trucks, and race through chaotic urban and off-road tracks. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. The track layouts are filled with shortcuts and alternate paths that open up depending on weather conditions; a sudden downpour might flood a tunnel, forcing you onto a higher, drier route. The handling is loose and drift-heavy, requiring constant counter-steering to avoid spinning out, especially when ramming opponents or getting rammed. It's a fast, physical game where every corner feels like a controlled crash. The sheer unpredictability of each race makes it a tense, rowdy experience from start to finish.
