Game Overview

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures is one of those weird, charming Sega Genesis games that doesn’t play like anything else. Instead of directly controlling Pac-Man, you’re more like his nervous babysitter—pointing him toward stuff with a cursor while frantically slingshotting obstacles before he blunders into ghosts. It’s equal parts puzzle game and chaotic escort mission.

The first time I played, I wasted five minutes just watching Pac-Man sulk in his house until I realized I had to poke him into action. Once he’s moving, you’re scanning every screen for hidden items (some tucked behind breakable doors or under suspiciously placed rocks) while trying not to let him walk straight into a ghost ambush. The slingshot feels oddly satisfying—nothing like pelting a tomato at a door to reveal a hidden key.

It’s janky in that very 90s way, but there’s something weirdly addictive about the mix of exploration and mild panic. Just don’t expect classic arcade action—this is Pac-Man as a bumbling cartoon hero, and you’re the one cleaning up his messes.
