Play Paperboy (Japan) Online

Dodge runaway lawnmowers and angry dogs while flinging papers at mailboxes—miss too many deliveries and you’ll get fired from your pixelated bike route. That throwing arc takes practice, but nailing a perfect toss through a window never gets old.

Game Overview

Paperboy came out on the NES in 1986, developed by Atari Games. It was a strange, simple idea for a game that fit right in with the era's love for turning everyday tasks into something chaotic. You didn't save a princess or fight aliens; you just had a paper route.

You control a kid on a bicycle, pedaling automatically down a suburban street. Your main job is to throw newspapers at subscribers' houses, aiming for the porch or, better yet, an open window. The challenge comes from everything trying to stop you: breakdancers, runaway shopping carts, tornadoes, and grim reapers. You have a limited number of papers, so every missed throw or accidental hit on a non-subscriber's window hurts. The game is unforgiving, with obstacles appearing suddenly and demanding quick reflexes. It feels like a constant, frantic scramble to keep your job for one more day.
