Game Overview
Penny Racers on the N64 is one of those weird little racing games that sticks with you. You start by picking or building these tiny toy-like cars—some look like hot rods, others like futuristic speedsters—and then you’re off, zipping around tracks that feel like they were pulled straight from a kid’s bedroom floor. The handling’s a bit slippery at first, but once you get used to drifting around corners, it’s oddly satisfying.
What makes it fun is how much you can tweak your ride. Swap engines, tweak the suspension, or slap on ridiculous spoilers—it’s all weirdly addictive. And the power-ups? Some give you a speed boost, others drop oil slicks, and there’s one that literally flips your car upside down mid-race (not always helpful). It’s not the prettiest racer on the N64, but there’s something charming about its janky physics and over-the-top customization.
