I dusted off my old Game Boy the other day and fired up PGA Tour '96—forgot how weirdly satisfying this little golf sim is. You pick your clubs, squint at the tiny screen to judge wind direction, and pray your pixelated ball doesn't end up in the rough. The putting physics are oddly precise once you get the hang of them.
What surprised me is how much strategy sneaks in. Do you play it safe with an iron off the tee, or go full power with the driver and risk slicing into the trees? The courses feel distinct too—some have these brutal doglegs that'll wreck your score if you're not careful. And yeah, the graphics are basic, but there's something charming about watching your golfer's little animation cycle after a perfect swing.
Still holds up better than most sports games from that era. Just don't blame me when you spend twenty minutes trying to sink that one impossible putt.
