Okay, so Pinocchio on the Game Boy is one of those weirdly charming Disney platformers that somehow makes getting chased by a cartoon fox in 8-bit feel legitimately tense. You jump across carnival tents, dodge puppet strings in Pleasure Island (which looks way creepier in pixel form), and yeah—occasionally your nose does grow when you mess up, which is a nice touch.
The sprites are tiny but full of personality—Geppetto’s workshop actually feels cozy, and Monstro the whale’s level has this claustrophobic, screen-shaking energy that still holds up. The music? Surprisingly good chiptune versions of "I’ve Got No Strings" that’ll get stuck in your head for days.
It’s not the hardest game, but some jumps are deceptively tricky, and the underwater sections control like you’re steering a wooden log (which, I guess, is accurate).
