Player Manager 2 on the Amiga is one of those games where you start off as a washed-up pro footballer who somehow ends up managing a lower-league team—while still playing for them. At first, your aging star is easily the best player on the pitch, so you’ll spend a lot of time tweaking tactics just to feed yourself the ball. The match engine’s a bit clunky, but there’s something satisfying about watching your little pixelated striker (you) bumble through defenses.

Between matches, you’re dealing with transfers, loans, and stadium upgrades—standard stuff, but the presentation’s charmingly retro. The weirdest quirk? Once your player hits retirement age, the game forces you to sit out every fourth season, which feels arbitrary but does add tension. And yeah, scoring is brutally hard, so don’t expect many hat-tricks.

Best part? Pre-game "analysis" from Alan Hansen, complete with grainy video clips. His advice is about as useful as real punditry, but it’s a hilarious touch. You’ll either love the grind or rage-quit after your third 0-0 draw in a row.
