Game Overview
Pocket Monsters Stadium GS was basically the closest thing we had to seeing Pokémon battles in 3D back in the N64 days. You pick your team from Gold and Silver—Typhlosion, Feraligatr, all the classics—and watch them duke it out in these surprisingly detailed little arenas. The animations are stiff by today’s standards, but at the time, seeing a Meganium actually whip its vines around in battle felt like magic.
It’s not just about battles, though. There’s this weirdly addictive mini-game where you race to squash berries with a Lickitung, and another where Doduo peck at buttons like some deranged typewriter. The AI can be brutal if you crank up the difficulty, but half the fun is just seeing your favorites move in ways the Game Boy could never show. Still holds up if you’re into that nostalgic, chunky-N64 aesthetic.
