Play Pocket Monsters Stadium GS (J) Online
Pick your Johto team and throw them into those early 3D battles—watching pixelated Typhlosion flamethrowers never gets old, even if the animations creak a little. You’ll memorize Japanese attack names faster than you’d think.

Game Overview
Pocket Monsters Stadium GS was basically the closest thing we had to seeing Pokémon battles in 3D back in the N64 days. You pick your team from Gold and Silver’s roster—Cyndaquil, Totodile, all the classics—and throw them into these flashy, slightly janky polygonal battles. The animations are charmingly stiff, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about watching your Typhlosion unleash a pixelated Flamethrower.
It’s not just about mashing attacks, either. You’ve got to actually think about type matchups and movesets, especially in the tournament modes where one bad call can wreck your whole run. And yeah, the menus are all in Japanese if you’re playing the original ROM, but after a few fights, you start recognizing the kanji for "Tackle" and "Hyper Beam" like some kind of accidental language lesson.
Definitely more of a nostalgia trip than a deep competitive experience, but if you ever dreamed of seeing your Johto team duke it out on the big screen, this was the game that made it happen.
