Game Overview

Pocket Music is one of those weird little GBA titles that makes you wonder why more people don’t talk about it. Instead of tapping along to pre-made tracks, you get this grid full of tiny squares—each one a different sound or note—and suddenly you’re stacking bleeps and bloops into something that almost resembles music. Or at least, that’s what I told myself after my first chaotic attempt.

The charm’s in how simple it feels at first, until you realize you’ve spent 20 minutes tweaking a single drum loop because "just one more adjustment" always turns into five. The sounds are pure early-2000s GBA: crunchy, nostalgic, and weirdly satisfying when you stumble into a decent melody. No scores, no fails—just you, a grid, and the sudden urge to make your own Mega Man stage theme.

Honestly, half the fun is hitting play and hearing your Frankenstein creation come to life. It’s like finding an old Casio keyboard, but way more portable and with way fewer judgmental siblings listening in.
