Play Power Athlete (Japan) on sega Online
Mash buttons to sprint, then time jumps just right—or eat track. Two-player mode turns javelin throws into absurd human torpedo contests.

Game Overview
Power Athlete (or Power Athlete: Hono no Toukyuuji if you're playing the Japanese Mega Drive version) is one of those games that makes you wonder why nobody talks about it more. It's like someone took Track & Field, cranked the speed up to 11, and then drenched everything in that early '90s SEGA neon aesthetic.
You'll start with the 100-meter dash—simple, right? Except the controls are just awkward enough to make it feel like an actual challenge. Mashing buttons gets you sprinting, but if you don't nail the timing on jumps or throws, you'll faceplant spectacularly. The javelin event is where things get ridiculous in the best way: your character basically turns into a human missile.
What really sells it is the two-player mode. There's something deeply satisfying about barely edging out a friend in the long jump while both of you are sweating over the controller. The pixel art has this exaggerated, almost cartoonish energy that keeps it fun even when you're failing miserably.
Fair warning: your thumbs will hate you after a few rounds.
