Power Rangers: Samurai for the Nintendo DS came out in 2011 from Namco Bandai Games. It was one of those licensed titles that felt right at home on the handheld, a straightforward action game for fans of the show. You could find it alongside a lot of other cartoon and movie tie-ins from that era, nothing too flashy but a solid use of the hardware.
You control one of the Samurai Rangers, switching between them to use their specific weapons and special attacks. The main goal is to fight through waves of Nighlok monsters, clearing screen by screen in a side scrolling beat 'em up style. Combat relies on simple combos and finishing moves, and you occasionally get to pilot the Megazord for first person shooting segments against larger foes. The pacing is quick, though the difficulty can spike during boss fights. It feels like playing through an episode of the TV show, complete with all its predictable but satisfying action.
