I picked up Power Rangers: Samurai for the Nintendo DS back in 2011, a game developed by Namco Bandai. It was one of those licensed titles that came out during the DS's later years, when the 3DS was already on the horizon, so it felt familiar in its approach. The game follows the TV show's storyline, putting you right into the action as one of the Samurai Rangers.
You control a Ranger through side-scrolling levels, using your morpher to transform and a signature weapon to fight off Nighlok enemies. Combat relies on touch screen gestures; you slash with the stylus to execute special kanji attacks that feel pretty satisfying when they connect. The main goal is to progress through each stage, defeat bosses, and eventually pilot the Megazord in separate battle sequences. The pacing is straightforward, and the difficulty stays manageable, making it accessible for younger players. It captures the energetic, slightly chaotic spirit of the show without overcomplicating things.
