Power Rangers: SPD on the GBA is one of those games that just gets what made the series fun. You start off as a rookie in Space Patrol Delta, and within minutes you're punching alien goons through neon-lit cityscapes—it’s classic side-scrolling beat 'em up action with that Power Rangers flair. The sprites pop with color, and the controls are tight enough that pulling off combos actually feels satisfying instead of clunky.
What surprised me was how much they packed into a GBA cart. You’ve got your basic punches and kicks, sure, but then there’s the blaster shots, team-up attacks, and those ridiculous (in a good way) morphing sequences before boss fights. The first time I faced down a monster twice the screen size, I may have panicked a little. It’s not brutally hard, but you can’t just button-mash your way through either—dodging matters, and some enemies actually gang up on you.
If you grew up with the SPD season or just miss when licensed games had this much care put into them, it’s a solid pickup. The soundtrack even nails that early 2000s synth-rock vibe. Just don’t expect a deep story—you’re here to kick aliens into orbit, and it delivers.
